Week of 5/6 - The Big Question?
Welcome to the planetary lawyer project, a newsletter for lawyers that want to do more for the planet.Â
I jumped right into last week with tips on becoming a climate expert…
But I should probably back up and answer the big question: what is a planetary lawyer?
You.Â
You’re a planetary lawyer, or you want to be one, which is pretty much the same thing in my book.
A planetary lawyer is a lawyer that wants to help the planet, no matter what type of law you practice or where you are in your career.
Because climate-friendly businesses need all kinds of legal help.
I know because I’ve helped these businesses get guidance on insurance issues, products liability questions, environmental permitting challenges, corporate formation hurdles…
You get the point, right?
And it’s not just businesses.
Nonprofits and social impact organizations need all kinds of help from lawyers.
How do you help the planet?Â
Well that’s up to you, but I’m here to help you along the way.
Find businesses to represent that are helping the planet.
Find a pro bono project with an environmental non profit or social impact startup.
Write and speak about topics that matter to the environment, whether through the lens of corporate or real estate law or specific climate-centric industries. (Because you can still help people only if by writing something that guides them to a better solution.)
Don’t have time for that? Don’t know where to start?
Well, I’m going to show you and guide you. And regardless you can be a planetary lawyer in smaller ways, like donating to worthy causes, or posting about important topics on social media.
Just pick an action and start; don’t wait for the right time; take a step and become a planetary lawyer today!
Now onto this weeks opportunities!
