Week of 4/22 - Everyone struggles, even on earth day
I almost gave up on this newsletter…
I started it just over a year ago to help you build a climate-friendly legal career.
But then I got busy, and I got tired, and I felt like I wasn’t helping anyone.
What was the point?
The very next day, I heard from an in-house counsel that read the newsletter and wanted to make a switch to a clean tech.
I had inspired them with my story and my belief that everyone could work on climate.
A few days later I heard from a law student that wanted to build a career in sustainability.
I had shown them that it was possible to work on climate as a lawyer.
Turns out more than 5000 people have read this newsletter in the last year.
I’ve heard from many of you.
Some of you have taken new climate-focused jobs.
Some of you are looking for jobs that better align with your values.
Some of you have made small pivots within your current jobs.
Some of you are still trying to figure out how to “work on climate.”
All of you want to help the planet.
And I want to help you.
So on this earth day, I am recognizing the times when I struggled, the times when I wanted to give up.
I am recognizing that a climate journey takes courage and determination.
I’ve struggled at times in my career, and I will struggle again.
But I believe that everyone can work on climate, and, if you’ll keep reading, I’ll keep writing and sharing my thoughts and experiences.
How have you struggled? Is this newsletter helping you? How can it do more for you? Comment below or just reply. I would love to hear from you.
Happy Earth Day.
