Don't miss out on the epic power of climate-friendly contracts (and earning CLE)
As part of NYC Climate Week, we’re hosting a free virtual CLE discussion with The Chancery Lane Project!
Hi! I’m Matthew Karmel, founder of the planetary lawyer project and Chair of the Environmental and Sustainability Law Group at Offit Kurman. (Any views expressed are my own. Nothing here is legal advice.)
I started my career as an associate with a single pro bono climate client and am now the head of a cutting edge climate-focused practice group at a full-service AMLaw 200 law firm.
I started this newsletter to help you build your own climate-friendly legal career by sharing hard-won lessons from my own career, short interviews with other climate-focused lawyers, legal developments, and relevant job opportunities.
As part of NYC Climate Week, we’re hosting a free virtual CLE discussion with The Chancery Lane Project!
Incorporating climate clauses into contracts allows lawyers to simply and effectively integrate climate change obligations into all sectors of the economy.
The Chancery Lane Project (TCLP) is a leading nonprofit that develops resources for incorporating climate considerations into contracts.
Because we don’t always need to change policy or sue fossil fuel companies to make progress on climate change.
The event will include a keynote from Ben Metz, the Executive Director of TCLP, about TCLP and their mission to utilize their global network of lawyers and business leaders to focus on decarbonization through climate contracting.
We’ll then have a comprehensive discussion on TCLP’s climate clauses, which have recently been updated for use by US attorneys, so that you are empowered to begin implementing these clauses immediately.
Although this panel is intended for in-house lawyers, attorneys of all kinds will benefit from the knowledge of how to incorporate climate considerations into contracts.
And you do not need to be in NYC to attend the event!
Although there are a few spots for in-person attendance if you are in NYC (send a reply to this email if you’re interested in an in-person ticket), the event is being held virtually so you can join from anywhere!
